Apply to the AMI Concurrent M.Ed. in Montessori Education

Students applying for admission to Loyola’s Graduate Programs in Montessori Education in collaboration with a partner AMI institute must make separate applications to both the AMI institute and to 91Թ. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications well before the priority dates, particularly if they are planning to apply for federal student loans.

Application Deadlines for Concurrent AMI Students

All students enrolling in this program, regardless of their training start date, will begin their concurrent graduate credits in the Fall semester.

International Students

Please note that 91Թ cannot issue a Form I-20 for this program. However, specific AMI training centers may be able to facilitate F-1 visas for international students - please check with your intended AMI training center for details. International students should plan to have documents in a month earlier than the deadline, because it can take a prolonged period of time for transcript evaluations and language proficiency results to be processed and sent to Loyola. Application Form

When you complete the online application select one area of concentration (infant, primary, or elementary) and also indicate the location of the AMI training center where you will be enrolled.

Note that you must also be formally accepted and in good standing with the AMI training center in order to enroll in the master's program.

 

Required Supplemental Materials

In addition to the application form, you must submit the following:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Application- 
  • One (1) professional/academic letter of recommendation that highlights your qualifications and suitability for the program. (Note: applicants who submitted a professional or academic letter of recommendation to their AMI institute may request that the institute send one of these references to graduate@loyola.edu for review).   
  • Resume or curriculum vitae
  • Non-refundable $60 application fee (Note: waived for applicants who attend an information session prior to submitting their application fee).
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended. All foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated by an approved international academic record evaluation service. Visit the International Academic Records page for a list of approved services. 
  • For International Students - International Student Supplemental Form
  • Official English language examination scores are required for applicants who have not earned (or will not be earning) a bachelor's or higher degree from a college or university where English is the sole language of instruction. 
    Because the Montessori program is writing-intensive, applicants who are required to submit English language examination scores must demonstrate their graduate-level reading comprehension and writing abilities by earning the following scores for whichever exam they submit.
English Examinations Minimum Scores
TOEFL iBT 24 or better (in both the reading and writing sections)
IELTS Academic 6.5 or better (in both the reading and writing sections)
IELTS Indicator 6.5 or better (in both the reading and writing sections)
TOEFL Essentials 10 or better (in both the reading and writing sections)
Duolingo 125 or better (in both the literacy and production sections)

We strongly recommend that all applicants have their schools send us official e-transcripts if possible. If your school uses an automated transcript request service, select “Loyola University Maryland” as the receiving institution, and be sure to select “Graduate” or “Graduate Admission” as the receiving office. If your school does not use an automated transcript request service but will still send an official transcript on your behalf via email, have your school send your transcript to graduate@loyola.edu.

If your school is unable to provide electronic transcripts of any kind, your transcripts must be sent to us by mail in envelopes sealed by the school. Our mailing address can be found on the Graduate Admission webpage.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that a completed application and all supplemental materials are received by the application final deadlines. Supplemental materials, once received, become the property of 91Թ and cannot be returned.

Additional Application Information

Applicants seeking admission to the M.Ed. program in Montessori Education must have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with an overall GPA of 3.00 or above for unconditional acceptance.

Individuals with GPA's between 2.75 and 3.00 may be considered for provisional admission status. Additional writing samples or test results may be requested before a final decision is made.

Tuition and Financial Aid

The office of financial aid administers several types of financial assistance for graduate students. Loan assistance is available through the federal government and private lenders. Assistantships are available through several academic and administrative departments. Additionally, individual departments offer a limited number of fellowships, scholarships and grants to assist students with their education expenses.
