Loyola President Terrence M. Sawyer, J.D., named to Power 100 List
Terrence M. Sawyer, J.D., president of 91Թ, was named to The Daily Record’s 2023-2024 Power 100 List.
“The Power 100 List for 2023-24 spotlights the people who play an outsized role in the culture, lifestyle, civic conversations and economic fortunes of Maryland,” according to The Daily Record. “The list reflects the deep reservoir of leadership across our state. As our technologies rapidly change, our social challenges mount and our state comes under new competitive pressures, these are the leaders we count on to prepare us for the future.”
Sawyer became president of Loyola in January 2022 after 23 years serving the University in several roles as an administrator and affiliate faculty member. Prior to becoming president, he was instrumental in developing and launching the York Road Initiative and an advocate of the recently approved York Corridor Business Improvement District (BID).
As senior vice president, Sawyer led the University in raising more than $100 million through the Bright Minds, Bold Hearts campaign, the largest campaign in Loyola’s history. He also led advancement in raising funds to support strategic capital projects, including the Miguel B. Fernandez Family Center for Innovation and Collaborative Learning, which opened in 2021.
Sawyer is currently guiding the University in the creation of its next strategic plan, which will be adopted later this semester. As president, he has welcomed robust, diverse, record-breaking incoming classes, is leading efforts to create a nursing program, and is developing programs and initiatives related to sustainability.
Joining Sawyer on the list are other Loyola community members, including William Wiedel, MBA `81; Edward St. John, MBA `98; Christine D. Aspell, `90; Scott Dorsey, MBA `96, and Doug Dollenberg, Jr., and Barry F. Rosen, Esq., who are both former members of the Sellinger School Board of Sponsors.
